Accessibility Mark is a new initiative to encourage more people with disabilities into the world of horse riding and its therapeutic benefits.

All accredited centres have been through an assessment and training day with specialists from RDA to ensure they are a suitable and safe venue. The centres are continually supported by RDA to ensure each rider progresses through the rider pathway to achieve their maximum potential.The riding provides physical therapy which helps people improve their health and gain more confidence and independence, while at the same time having fun. Riders enjoy riding lessons, quiet hacks in the summer, take part in musical rides at shows and some compete at the regional and national RDA Championships.

Tumpy Green RDA offer riding sessions for adults and children run at Tumpy Green Equestrian Centre on Wednesday evenings, 6.30pm-8.00pm, term-time only. Berkeley Vale RDA offer riding sessions on Thursday mornings at 10.30am-12.30pm.

 Tumpy Green RDA Group, a charity established in 2008, has developed into a successful and growing group.  Berkeley Vale RDA Group joined Tumpy Green in 2021, enabling more riders to access the benefits of RDA activities.

Both groups rely on volunteers for a variety of roles, and would welcome more assistance with the following activities:

  • sidewalking – walking alongside the rider to provide encouragement and support;
  • leading the horses;
  • fundraising/promotional activities.

Prospective volunteers need to be at least 14 years old, and any volunteer over the age of 18 would need to be CRB checked.
