Set in the heart of Gloucestershire Countryside at Tumpy Green Equestrian Centre we are fortunate to have direct access to a wide variety of off road riding, quiet country lanes and bridle paths. This combined with our superb training facilities means that we can offer you a unique equestrian experience. Tumpy Green Equestrian Centre is a family owned Centre where we ensure professional, safe and fun intensive riding breaks. We tailor our breaks to suit the levels of experience of those joining us, combining hacking and lessons to ensure you have a great opportunity to build on your skills, whether you are a complete novice or an experienced rider.
Accommodation is not available on site but there are many B&Bs, AirBnBs, and hotels in the area, as well as campsites and Glamping pods a short distance away.
To book a riding holiday, register on EC Pro, wait to be graded and then you can see availability and book in. Take advantage of the Token system which gives you 10% off per 5 tokens purchased. Hacking is not available to book on EC Pro without prior arrangement, so drop us an email if you would like this included (along with if you'd like a group or a private hack). Please note that Competition Arena, Canter Track and Cross-Country Hire is in addition to the lesson booking, so please let us know by email if this is something you'd like to do (we do have a minimum riding standard to use these facilities too).
At Tumpy Green Equestrian Centre we understand the importance of ensuring you are well matched with your horse or pony. So we recommend you start your riding breaks with an assessment lesson by booking a private lesson first. This allows us to ensure you are mounted to the right horse, so that you can have both a fun and safe experience while at Tumpy Green.
An example of a previous package booked as an Intensive Riding Break at Tumpy Green Equestrian Centre:
After a briefing and an opportunity to familiarise yourself with the Centre and meet the horses, you will then have an initial riding assessment to ensure we match you up with the most suitable equine partner for your break. We offer programs to suit all levels of experience from complete beginners to advanced.
Lunch may be a bar snack at a local hotel, or you are welcome to bring a packed lunch, during school holidays, and in the evenings, we also offer light refreshments on site from Tumpy T's.
After lunch, you may have a one hour stable management lesson that will teach you how to care and handle your horse safely (these are booked as a private lesson on EC Pro).The first day is rounded off by ensuring your horse is safely put to bed and tack cleaned ready for tomorrow's adventures.
After breakfast you could be enjoying the same riding plan as yesterday with a lunge lesson in place of the assessment lesson, a flatwork lesson and a hack as well as a stable management lesson. The lunge lesson is a fantastic way to get a real feel for the horse's movement and work on your position, this is beneficial to all levels of riders, as it allows you to focus on specific areas within a controlled way.
We could start the day with a group lesson, building on your previous days lessons. This will be followed by a stable management lesson before lunch. After lunch we will be once again heading off into the local countryside, for a two hour hack. For those who would like to jump (and are able to!) the ride can included cross country fences from intro to novice level. Alternatively, those who prefer four hooves on the ground can just enjoy the beautiful countryside.
Your Intensive break will finish with a debrief where you will have an opportunity to discuss your next steps with your instructor. Then off home for a well-deserved rest!
